Course Description：
In this course, the problems of the quality of power supply in power system are classified, such as, system transients, voltage sages and swell, waveform distortion and harmonics, surges by switching and lightning transients, etc. The causes and hazards for these problems are made out. The development trend of power quality control technology is introduced. Through studying the control theory of power quality, such as, harmonic analysis and instantaneous reactive power theory, etc, some control technologies are derived and illustrated, for example, static reactive power compensator (SVC), flexibility AC transmission installation (FACTS), active power filter (APF) and so on. In the end, the principle and control method of high voltage direct current transmission system (HVDC) is discussed.
